Whyte 604 V3 2022 Compact Hardtail Mountain Bike

Whyte's 600 series bikes are designed to be great value entry-level mountain bikes that offer the perfect start into the world of off-road riding.

The 604 is the same as the 603, but the frame geometry is modified so the reach and wheelbase are shorter. Some other manufacturers would refer to this modification as creating a female specific bike, but Whyte prefer not to pigeonhole it and would recommend that this bike could be a better choice for women, younger or shorter riders, or just anyone after a shorter bike.

Delta Bikes Opinion - The 604 is a great entry level mountain bike. The frame geometry is much better for riding trails than a lot of other bikes found at this price point and in this compact version you have a shorter reach and slightly narrower handlebars than the 603.

Tubeless ready rims are a nice addition at such a low cost and offer good future upgrade potential (be aware you would need tubeless ready tyres). Hydraulic brakes are a must, and it's good to see a sensible 180mm front rotor choice for enhancing stopping power.

It's nice to see an option with a double front chainring offering a larger gear range (36-22 chainrings with a 11-36 cassette) - this would also lend itself well if you wanted to ride to work or for general leisure riding. If a 1x drivetrain is important to you, please look at the 605 or above.
